Washington College has moved the student enrollment deadline from May 1 to June 1. The change in deadline is due to the continued delay of the Free Application Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) processing.

On January 30, 2024, the U.S. Department of Education announced updated details on the timeline of 2024-2025 FAFSA processing. Though it was discouraging to learn that FAFSA processing will be delayed, and institutions will not begin receiving FAFSA information until the “first half of March,” Washington College remains committed to providing the best and most accurate aid package in an efficient and timely manner. The Office of Financial Aid is prepared to issue financial aid offers within two weeks of receiving FAFSA information.

To ease some of the anxiety and frustration that the uncertainty of the process has caused for applicants, the College will continue to adjust the deadline as needed. More details on accessing FAFSA information will be made available to applicants in the coming days and weeks. Please contact the Office of Financial Aid with any questions. Staff will be available during evening hours in March, April, and May to help applicants and navigate the enrollment process.

The U.S. Department of Education issued an Electronic Announcement (General 24-06) that was updated on February 9 that provides a timeline for students regarding the processing of their FAFSA. These bullet points have been taken directly from the Electronic Announcement:

  • Students will receive an email informing them that their FAFSA form has been fully processed and their FAFSA information has been sent to the schools they listed on their form.
  • Students who applied using the online FAFSA form will receive an email that they can access their FAFSA Submission Summary by logging into using their account username and password.
  • The Department will send an email reminder to previous FAFSA applicants who have not yet submitted a 2024-25 FAFSA form.
  • Students can make corrections to their FAFSA once their eligibility is calculated and an ISIR (FAFSA information) has been generated. Students may view their eligibility calculation by logging back into their account.
  • The Department will fully process paper applications in the weeks following.
